SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The Alamo City Guards Camp #1325 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans congratulates the citizens and trustees of the Midland Independent School District on their recent decision to restore the historic name of Lee High School and designate the freshman campus as Lee Freshman School.

“We were not involved in Midland’s discussion, but we recognize and commend the community’s commitment to preserving its history,” said Commander Christian Lee of the Alamo City Guards. “Their decision shows that open, respectful dialogue can lead to outcomes that honor local heritage.”

The Alamo City Guards Camp #1325 has been actively advocating for a similar restoration here in San Antonio, where we believe Lee High School should once again bear the full name of General Robert E. Lee. In a Hispanic-majority city, we believe cultural diversity means ensuring all communities — including ours — have equal representation in public names and landmarks.

We encourage communities across Texas to engage in constructive conversations about their shared history and the importance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
